Tee ball is available for league age 4 and 5. This division focuses on fun and developing a basic understanding of game play.
Single A / Coach Pitch division is available for players who have completed one year of tee ball, league age 6 players, and league age 7 players in need of additional basic skills work.
Two divisions are offered as part of the Little League Minors program:
AA / Modified Kid Pitch is a player's first introduction into player pitched baseball. In this division players pitch until either a strikeout, hit or four balls are thrown. When four balls are thrown, rather than recording a walk, the coach steps in to deliver three hittable pitches. Players in this division are generally 7 - 8 years old. 9 years old players may participate at league and parent degression.
AAA / Player Pitch is the first division for full time player pitch and begins more advanced play. While still an instructional division, coaches are now off the field while on defense. Triple A division for players 9 - 11, and 12 year olds with approved waivers.
Majors division is for players league age 10 - 12, and is Little League's competitive baseball program on a 60' diamond.
Juniors division is for players league age 13 - 15, and is played on a 90' baseball field.
Challengers division is available for players 4 - 18 with intellectual and physical challenges to enjoy the benefits of Little League participation in an environment structured to their abilities.
Intermediate and Senior league is not offered in Watertown Oakville LL.
Tee ball, Single A (coach pitch) and AA (modified kid pitch) teams are assigned based on player age and skill level. Managers and coaches aid in the assessment of skills and assignment to teams.
Players for the AAA and Majors divisions are drafted to teams after league evaluations are held. The focus of the draft is to create competitively balanced team. Majors division are drafted first. Players not selected for Majors will be drafted to a AAA team.
After the draft, managers will call or email families to notify them of team assignments. Those families signed up for notification will also be notified through the web site. Notifications generally occur in the first week of April.
Practice and game notifications will come shortly after team assignment notices.
Not all teams begin practices at the same time, so you may not have missed any activities. If you have not been contacted by April 10, please contact wateroaklittleleague@gmail.com
Uniforms, hats, helmets and team bats will be provided by the league after team assignment. If a player is not going to use a team provided bat they can use their own. But it must comply with all Little League bat regulations. The USA bat standard logo will be marked on the bat.
Tee ball and Coach Pitch should be prepared with a glove and athletic shoes. Cleats are not necessary at this level.
AA, AAA, Majors and Juniors players should be prepared with cleats. Protective cups are required for players in the catchers position, and recommended for all others.
